Bio
Carla Jackson is a graduate of the University of West Georgia with a Masters of Music degree in saxophone performance. She taught elementary music in Cobb County for 14 years before returning to Carroll County where she has been at Roopville Elementary since 2015. She is married and has two children, David and Stanley.
Carla continues to pursue her passion for music by performing with the Carrollton Wind Ensemble, the Ten 'til Swing jazz band, and as the music director at Shiloh Methodist Church and Campground. She has performed with the Carrollton Jazz Orchestra, Atlanta Blue Notes, Reflections Big Band, Macon Pops Orchestra, and co-founded The Usual Suspects Big Band. Through the University of West Georgia music program, she has had the privilege to perform multiple times in Germany and Austria. In the summer of 2024, the Carrollton Wind Ensemble performed five concerts throughout Italy. While in Italy, the Carrollton Wind Ensemble hosted a one day music camp for underprivileged children where Carla co-lead a music and movement class.
Carla encourages all students to explore, learn about music, and become involved in the music program. Being involved with music in school provided her with the opportunities to travel, meet new people, and to develop lasting friendships.
